Idaho again posts lowest jobless rate

Idaho recorded the lowest jobless rate among states at 2.5% in October, the fourth month in a row, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. It was followed by Hawaii at 2.7%, Utah at 2.8%, and South Dakota and Wyoming at 2.9% each.

Michigan experienced the highest unemployment rate among states at 7.7% in October. It was followed by Mississippi and Alaska at 6.1% each.

Arizona and Michigan posted the largest month-over-month declines in employment, down 0.5% each. Washington registered the biggest month-over-month increase in jobs, up 0.3%.

Overall, 22 states and the District of Columbia recorded month-over-month increases in their unemployment rates in October, 17 reported decreases, and 11 had no change.
