IT Jobs Reach High for Fourth Month

May 09, 2012

The number of U.S. information technology jobs reached an all-time high for the fourth month in a row. The TechServe Alliance reported the number of IT jobs rose by 17,000 in April, a 0.4 percent increase, to a record of more than 4.1 million jobs.

These latest numbers are based on re-benchmarked data released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics this month.

“Once again, job growth in IT continues to outperform most other sectors,” said Mark Roberts, CEO of TechServe Alliance. “With unemployment rates in many IT occupations less than half the national unemployment rate of 8.1 percent, we are actually seeing a talent shortage in many high-demand skillsets.”

TechServe Alliance is a collaboration of IT staffing firms, solutions firms, clients, consultants and suppliers dedicated to advancing excellence and ethics within the IT services industry.
