October 01, 2014

The Institute for Supply Management’s purchasing managers’ index for US manufacturing fell to a reading of 56.6 in September, down from August’s reading of 59.0.

Readings above 50 indicated growth; September’s index indicates continued expansion in manufacturing but at a slower rate than August.

The employment portion of the index fell to a reading of 54.6 in September from the August reading of 58.1.

Bloomberg reports US factories settled into a more sustainable expansion that will spur the economy.
