IRS issues formal notice delaying ACA employer mandate

July 11, 2013

On July 2, the Obama Administration informally announced its intention to postpone the Affordable Care Act’s employer pay-or-play mandate and its related reporting features by one year, from Jan. 1, 2014, to Jan. 1, 2015. On July 9, the IRS issued a formal notice of the action, which did not materially add to the main points of the informal announcement, writes George Reardon, special counsel at employment law firm Little Mendelson. The rest of the law was unchanged by this action.

Reardon discusses the delay in an online update to his story on healthcare reform in the July issue of Staffing Industry Review. The story is the first of a two-part series on healthcare reform in Staffing Industry Review.
