Heidrick board member steps down to become US ambassador to France

September 30, 2014

Jane Hartley resigned as a member of Heidrick & Struggles International Inc.’s (NASD: HSII) board of directors following Senate approval of her appointment as the next US ambassador to France and Monaco, according to a filing Monday with the US Securities and Exchange Commission. Hartley’s resignation from the board is effective Sept. 16, the same day the Senate confirmed her to the post.

Hartley joined the executive search firm’s board in May 2009 and was committee chair of its human resources and compensation committee. Since 2007, she has been chief executive officer and a founding principal of Observatory Group, an international economic and political advisory firm. Before co-founding Observatory Group, Hartley was CEO of the G7 Group.

“If confirmed by the United States Senate, I will do everything in my power to strengthen and deepen the ties that have bound France and America together since the birth of our great country,” Hartley said in her July testimony before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. “I look forward to this extraordinary challenge and hope to have the chance to serve the United States of America at this important moment in history.”
