The owners of a Louisiana-based healthcare staffing firm were arrested on charges of insurance fraud and unlawful practices involving workers' compensation coverage, the Louisiana Workforce Commission announced Tuesday.

Brett McElwee and Daniel Fuselier, owners of Ville Platte LA-based First Choice Medical Staffing Inc., surrendered to authorities on Tuesday, according to the Louisiana Workforce Commission.

First Choice Medical Staffing has eight branch locations, according to its Web site.

An attorney for the owners could not be reached by press time.

The arrests were part of an ongoing effort by the commission to tackle workers' compensation fraud.
