Healthcare, construction in next phase

June 08, 2009

Healthcare and transportation work rank among 10 key targets the White House announced today as part of the next phase of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The White House reported the activities under the Recovery Act will create or save 600,000 jobs in the next 100 days.

Among the projects are plans to enable 1,129 health centers in 50 states and eight territories to provide expanded service to approximately 300,000 patients. Another part of the plan is to begin work on rehabilitation and improvement projects at 98 airports and more than 1,500 highway locations throughout the U.S.

A new Web site was also announced to describe and track the projects. It's available www.whitehouse.gov/recovery/.
