View All NewsGermany – Temporary worker numbers up but growth slowing
The number of temporary workers in Germany increased by +3.4% to 802,700 during August 2014, compared with the same month last year, according to the latest figures from the Statistical Office of the Federal Employment Agency (BAP).
This follows year-on-year growth of +3.6% in July, and +3.8% in June; but remains substantially above the growth of +0.3% reported in May, compared with last year.
The number of temporary workers increased by +0.3%, month-on-month, during August, up from 800,400 in July. The number of temporary workers across Germany has increased each month for the past six months.
Despite the year-on-year and month-on-month growth, the number of temporary workers remains below the average of 838,820 for the whole of 2013.
The Employment Barometer from the Institute for Economic Research (Ifo) published earlier this week signalled an improving hiring sentiment, driven by demand in the services sector.
