Georgia posts highest state jobless rate in October

Georgia posted the highest unemployment rate among all states in October at 7.7 percent, according to data released today by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. Mississippi and the District of Columbia followed, both at 7.6 percent, while Rhode Island posted a 7.4 percent unemployment rate.

North Dakota again posted the lowest unemployment rate in October at 2.8 percent.

The national jobless rate edged down to 5.8 percent from September and was 1.4 percentage points lower than in October 2013.
