General Employment Revenue Up 61%

Revenue jumped 60.7 percent at General Employment Enterprises Inc. (AMEX: JOB), an Oakbrook Terrace, Ill.-based staffing provider, to $12.7 million in its fiscal second quarter ended March 31 from $7.9 million in the year-ago period.

The company’s acquisition of assets from Ashley Ellis LLC in September 2011 helped boost revenue. General Employment’s second-quarter revenue also got a boost from its acquisition of BMCH Inc. in May 2011 and BMCHPA in July 2011.

Second-quarter gross margin narrowed to 25.7 percent from 26.6 percent in the year-ago quarter.

General Employment reported a second-quarter net loss of $515,000, compared with a net loss of $104,000 in the year-ago period.

The company provides information technology, engineering, finance/accounting, agriculture and light industrial staffing.
