Freelancer.com, which links staffing buyers with independent contractors online, acquired Toronto-based Scriptlance. Terms of the transaction were not announced. Scriptlance also connects buyers with independent contractors online.

Scriptlance has more than 360,000 enterprise and professional users. It was incorporated in 2001 by René Trescases, who was 20 years old at the time.

Freelancer.com reports it now has more than 4 million users with the Scriptlance acquisition.
