I work for Elance and am familiar with the details of the case to which Robert Miller is alluding.

While only a small fraction of the 800,000 jobs posted on Elance is ever disputed, we're unhappy whenever a customer is dissatisfied with the outcome.

Our dispute process is designed to be fair to both the Client and the Contractor and only a few cases ever require arbitration. Prior to arbitration both parties understand and agree that arbitration is binding to ensure an objective third party review and resolution.
