France - Unemployment falls by -0.8% month-on-month

The latest data published by DARES on behalf of the official government job centres (Pôle Emploi) reveals that the number of category A (Unemployed) job seekers, in France, registered with job centres in March 2011 was down by -0.8% or -21,100 individuals to 2,680,000 compared to the previous month. Compared to March 2010, it was up by +0.7%.

Registered job seekers in categories B (work for up to 78 hours per month) and C (work for more than 78 hours per month) amounted to 1,365,400 in March 2011. Category B was up by +2% compared to the previous month and up by +4.8% compared to the same month last year. Category C was up by +1.9% compared to the previous month and up by +14.7% year-on-year.

Job seekers in categories A, B and C in total amounted to 4,045,400 in France only and to 4,306,200 in France plus the overseas dominions, up by +0.1% month-on-month and up by +3.8% year-on-year.

Registered job seekers in categories D (unemployed but not looking for a job) and E (unemployed with a job offer), in France only, amounted to 591,100 in March 2011. The number of category D job seekers fell by -2.6% month-on-month. The number of category E job seekers fell by -0.1% month-on-month.
