France – Small increase in wages for managers

02 September 2014

Salaries for managers have increased by +0.9% in 2014, according to a survey from Expectra, a subsidiary of Randstad. This compares positively with an increase of +0.5% last year, but remains significantly below the pay rises reported in 2011 and 2012, reports latribune.fr.

According to the survey, based on the real wages of more than 68,000 payslips, there was an increase of+2.4% in 2012 and +2.9% in 2011.

Didier Gaillard, CEO of Expectra, which specialises in the placement of staff in the technology, business, and legal sectors, explained: “Large companies and SMEs often have no choice but to adopt prudent wage policies in order to control costs.”

The study also revealed differences between sectors. The highest individual salary increase in 2014 were product managers in the commercial sector (+5.6%), followed by account managers in the finance sector (+4.5%), and engineers in the industrial sector (+3.8%).

While the IT and telecoms sector reported the strongest growth in 2013 of +1.8%, IT managers during 2014 received pay rises of +0.7%. According to the survey, this follows the prediction that turnover for the sector for the whole year will increase by just +1.1%.
