Four-week jobless average rises 1.2%

The four-week moving average of seasonally adjusted initial jobless claims rose 1.2% to 524,500 for the holiday week ended Nov. 29 from the previous week's revised average of 518,250, the U.S. Department of Labor announced today. However, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial unemployment for the week ended Nov. 29 (not the four-week average) fell 4.0% to 509,000 from the previous week's revised figure of 530,000.
