Emptoris acquired the contract and service management division of Click Commerce Inc., the company announced today. The division includes Click Commerce's vendor management system for contingent labor management.

Plans call for the brand to change to Emptoris, but for the transition of ownership to be seamless for customers, according to the company. The price of the deal was not announced.

Click Commerce ranked as the largest VMS with $4.64 billion in spend under management, according to a list released last year by Staffing Industry Analysts.

Burlington MA-based Emptoris is majority-owned by Marlin Equity Partners, a Los Angeles-based private equity firm.

Emptoris acquired Click Commerce from Illinois Tool Works Inc.

Other divisions of Click Commerce were acquired directly by Marlin Equity Partners and include Click Commerce's service network solutions division and research and healthcare solutions division.
