Clearwater Legal Staffing LLC and Choice Legal Solutions LLC, startups that provide document review, integrated e-discovery and legal staffing services, announced a merger of the two companies. Choice purchased all the assets of Clearwater and the transaction closed in the last week of September; terms were not disclosed.

The combined entity will do business as Clearwater Legal.

Julian Brown launched Clearwater Legal Staffing in mid-February. He is the former president and a founder of Compliance Staffing, which was purchased by Randstad and now owned by System One.

Choice Legal Solutions was founded by attorney Sandra Chu. Joe Kearney also joined the firm as principal. Kearney spent more than 15 years in the litigation support departments of AmLaw 100 firms before entering the document review services business in 2006.

Clearwater Legal is currently headquartered in Rosslyn, Va., but is moving to metro Washington, D.C., in January.
