Firm Pays $512,724 for IC Misclassification

A firm that installs paint delivery systems misclassified 48 workers as independent contractors and was required to pay $512,724 in back wages, the U.S. Department of Labor reported. The firm, Complete Automation, was performing work on a new Nissan plant in Smyrna, Tenn.

Complete Automation is based in Lake Orion, Mich.
