Expo covers Web recruiting

September 19, 2007

More than 350 registered attendees met on Tuesday in San Francisco for the first day of the Onrec Expo 2007, an international summit for online recruitment. The conference is sponsored by Onrec.com, which began as a database of job boards in the UK, and now contains databases of both suppliers and job boards in 57 countries.

The conference explores the nexus between social networking sites such as LinkedIn, job boards such as Monster and HotJobs, and new recruiting and applicant tracking sites. As such, it looks at the convergence of these technologies and what the state of recruiting will look like in the future.

Among the speakers was Peter Weddle, who spoke about how talent management can benefit from online recruiting. Weddle will also speak at Staffing Industry Analyst's 2007 Healthcare Staffing Summit next week in Chicago (click here for more details.)

Main themes of the first day at Onrec were global recruiting, EEOC regulations, and also the rise of candidate-driven sites.
