View All NewsEurope – Strongest growth in agency work since 2011
The number of hours worked by agency workers across Europe increased by +5.6% in September 2014, the strongest year-on-year growth since September 2011, according to the European Agency Work Business Indicator from Eurociett, the European Confederation of Private Employment Agencies.
This positive growth stems predominately from the Dutch, Belgian, and Italian markets, with the Danish and Polish markets showing excellent growth. However, results from France and Germany, the two biggest markets in the series, dampened the European average.
In terms of turnover, Denmark continued its positive growth reported in Q1 and Q2 of 2014, with +17.2% and +15.0% year-on-year, respectively. With the sole exception of Norway, every country in the series is now reporting positive growth in turnover figures.
It is interesting to note that in Belgium and Poland, turnover growth has been bigger than growth in hours worked for several months on end, indicating growing margins after a period of minimal margins
However, in France growth in turnover and hours worked remains on par, and in the Netherlands turnover has been growing more slowly than hours worked, indicating that Dutch margins are still under pressure.
