Europe – Hours worked by agency workers up again in February

24 April 2015

The number of hours worked by agency workers across Europe increased by 4.6% in February 2015, compared with the same month last year, according to the latest Agency Work Business Indicator (AWBI) compiled by Eurociett, the European Confederation of Private Employment Agencies.

For the second consecutive month France reported an increase in hour worked in February, which were up by 1.5% compared with last year. Growth also accelerated in Finland, Italy, and the Netherlands.

Ongoing challenges in Switzerland dampened growth slightly, with 7.9% fewer hours worked in March 2015 compared with the same month in 2014. The de-pegging of the Swiss franc to the euro has created a lot of uncertainty in the market that looks set to continue for some time.
