United Kingdom-based staffing firm the Empresaria Group PLC posted a 40.5% increase in revenue to GBP207.7 million (US$300.7 million) for full-year 2008. Acquisitions and disposals added GBP41.5 million to revenue.

2008 gross margin narrowed to 24.8% from 28.7% in the previous year.

Empresaria reported a net loss of GBP500,000 (US$732,960) for 2008 compared with a net loss ofGBP200,000 in 2007.

U.K. revenue rose 3.0% to GBP83.6 million (US$121.0 million) excluding the effects of acquisitions and disposals — which took away GBP4.0 million from revenue.

Revenue from continental Europe rose 75.8% to GBP92.1 million (US$133.3 million) with acquisitions adding GBP31.9 million. And revenue from the rest of the world rose 125.4% to GBP32.0 million (US$46.3 million) with acquisitions adding revenue of GBP13.6 million.

Empresaria has operations in 20 countries.
