Employment services price index rises

March 14, 2014

The U.S. producer price index for employment services rose 2.2 percent in February compared to the same month a year ago, according to data released today by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The index was at a level of 130.6 in February, up from 127.8 in February 2013.

Producer price indexes track the change in price received by service producers over time. The change in price is measured from the perspective of the seller, in this case staffing firms.

The employment services industry includes employment placement agencies, temporary help services, executive search services and professional employer organizations.

Employment services is just one industry tracked by the producer price indexes.
