The number of people receiving Canadian Employment Insurance jobless benefits fell 0.5% in October to 809,600 from 813,640 in September, Statistics Canada reported today.
In Ontario, the number of people receiving Employment Insurance benefits rose by 1.5% to 276,850 in October from 272,690 in September.
The number of people receiving Employment Insurance in Quebec fell 1.0% in October to 207,470 from 209,630 in September.
Employment Insurance provides financial help for unemployed workers.
