Economic conditions appear to have improved, but labor markets remain weak, according to the Federal Reserve Beige Book report released Wednesday.
Staffing firms in the Boston and Dallas Federal Reserve Districts reported a pickup in activity, according to the report. However, staffing firms in the New York district said activity remained sluggish.
Overall U.S. hiring conditions were sluggish and unemployment remained high, according to the report. Still, the pace of job cuts did slow, according to the Atlanta, Cleveland and Richmond VA districts.
Districts reported little or no wage pressure.
