Economic index still near March low

May 02, 2008

The growth rate for the Economic Cycle Research Institute's weekly leading index (WLI) level of the U.S. economy for the week ended April 25 fell to 131.9, down from the prior period's reading of 132.1.

"While the WLI has recovered slightly in the last four weeks, it remains close to its March low and in a clear recessionary downswing," said Lakshman Achuthan, managing director of the institute.
