Detroit posts highest jobless rate in June

Detroit posted the highest unemployment rate in June, 10.3 percent, among all large metropolitan areas with populations of 1 million or more, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. The Minneapolis-St. Paul area posted the lowest jobless rate at 5.1 percent.

Among metropolitan areas of all sizes, the Yuma, Ariz., area posted the highest jobless rate at 31.8 percent in June. It was followed by El Centro, Calif., with an unemployment rate of 23.6 percent.
