The U.S. Department of Labor hired 250 more wage and hour investigators and plans a public awareness campaign for early 2010 to inform workers of their rights, U.S. Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis announced Thursday.

Enforcement efforts over the last three months have already resulted in the collection of almost $2 million in back wages from more than 500 workers, Solis reported.
