Demand highest for physical therapists

May 13, 2009

Physical therapists continue to be in demand, according to the quarterly healthcare recruiting standard report released by The Delta Companies, a Dallas-based healthcare staffing firm. Physical therapists were the most in-demand specialty for Delta Healthcare Placement in the first quarter; they had also been the most in-demand in the first quarter of last year.

Physician extenders were the next most in-demand, followed by occupational therapists and registered nurses.

"The ever-increasing need for rehabilitation providers will be maintained as the baby boomer generation ages and more therapists are necessary to treat the elderly," said Bill Tracewell, executive VP of Delta Healthcare Placement.
