Recruiters placed more than 3,000 new online job ads requiring cloud computing skills in July, a year-over-year increase of 68 percent, according to data from research firm Wanted Analytics.

The metro area with the most online job ad activity for cloud computing skills was San Jose, Calif., with more than 400 new online job ads placed. Seattle, San Francisco, New York and the Washington, D.C., areas round out the top five.

Computer software engineers (applications) were most in demand, with more than 700 new jobs advertised. Computer system engineers were next. Web developers, despite seeing the third highest ad volume, had the highest year-over-year increase at 150 percent.
