December delivers 0.1% increase in IT jobs for US, TechServe reports

The number of IT jobs in the US rose 0.1% in December to more than 4.7 million, according to the TechServe Alliance, the national trade association for IT & engineering staffing and solutions firms.

On a year-over-year basis, the number of IT jobs rose 3.1 percent in the US for a total addition of 139,400 IT workers.

The US also posted a 0.1% increase in engineering jobs in December for a total of more than 2.5 million. On a year-over-year basis, the US added 52,600 engineering workers.

“IT and engineering employment continued its steady climb in December,” said TechServe Alliance CEO Mark Roberts. “With December’s positive numbers, we have now had 57 consecutive months of IT growth — an impressive statistic to be sure. … From all the data we see as well as the front-line reports of my member companies, 2015 promises to be a strong year for IT and engineering employment growth.”
