County in Silicon Valley posts highest wage in Q3

Santa Clara, Calif., posted the highest average weekly wage among all large US county areas in the third quarter of 2014, while Olmsted County in Minnesota posted the largest year-over-year increase in average weekly wage, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today.

Santa Clara County, home of Silicon Valley, posted an average weekly wage of $2,012. Olmsted County had the largest percentage year-over-year wage increase at 11.1%.

The 10 large US counties with the highest average weekly wages in the third quarter:

  1. Santa Clara, Calif.: $2,012
  2. San Mateo, Calif.: $1,824
  3. New York, N.Y.: $1,733
  4. San Francisco, Calif.: $1,685
  5. Washington, D.C.: $1,631
  6. Arlington, Va.: $1,545
  7. Suffolk, Mass.: $1,515
  8. King, Wash.: $1,452
  9. Fairfax, Va.: $1,447
  10. Fairfield, Conn: $1,400

The 10 large US counties with the highest year-over-year increases in average weekly wage in the third quarter:

  1. Olmsted, Minn.: 11.1%
  2. San Francisco, Calif.: 8.6%
  3. Santa Clara, Calif.: 7.4%
  4. San Mateo, Calif.: 7.1%
  5. Brazoria, Texas: 7.1%
  6. Midland, Texas: 6.8%
  7. Washington, Ore.: 6.2%
  8. Howard, Md.: 6.0%
  9. Hamilton, Ohio: 6.0%
  10. Suffolk, Mass.: 5.9%
