General Motors Co. tapped Spencer Stuart to find a new CEO, The Wall Street Journal reported.

The automaker announced earlier this month that President and CEO Fritz Henderson stepped down. Chairman Ed Whitacre took on the CEO role while a search for a new top executive takes place.

Executive search firm Spencer Stuart ranked No. 65 on Staffing Industry Analysts' list of largest U.S. staffing firms.
