The U.S. Department of Commerce today released an increased estimate of fourth-quarter 2009 growth in real gross domestic product to 5.9%.
An earlier estimate had put fourth-quarter GDP growth at 5.7%.
GDP had grown by only 2.2% in the third quarter of 2009. It had fallen 0.7% in the second quarter of 2009 after a decline of 6.4% in the first quarter of 2009.
Growth in temporary employment is strongly correlated with growth in GDP.
