Command Center settles Superstorm Sandy-related case

December 10, 2013

Command Center Inc. (OTCBB: CCNI), an Idaho-based staffing firm, has agreed to a $27,800 settlement with the state of New Jersey in a complaint stemming from Superstorm Sandy relief efforts, New Jersey Acting Attorney General John J. Hoffman and the State Division of Consumer Affairs announced Monday.

According to the complaint against the company, Command Center Inc. failed to register with the state as required by law when it set up temporary offices to assist recovery efforts after Superstorm Sandy. New Jersey requires temporary staffing firms to obtain a $1,000 bond and meet other registration requirements in order to operate in the state.

The settlement includes a $10,000 payment to the American Red Cross for ongoing Sandy relief efforts, $15,000 in civil penalties, and approximately $2,800 to reimburse the Division’s investigative costs.

Command Center previously announced it is shifting away from disaster recovery projects.

Command Center made no admission of liability as to any allegation or investigative matter and cooperated with the division’s investigation fully, according to the announcement.

Command Center previously reached a separate settlement with the N.J. Department of Labor and Workforce Development, paying more than $2,844 in back wages to 13 temporary employees in New Jersey who performed Sandy-related cleanup work.
