Comforce revenue up 4%, PrO up 19%

Comforce Corp. (AMEX: CFS) reported first-quarter revenue rose 4.2% on a year-over-year basis, and revenue in its PrO Unlimited division rose 19.1%.

The Woodbury NY-based firm said first-quarter revenue rose to $143.8 million from $138.0 million in the same period last year.

Comforce reported its PrO Unlimited division, which provides vendor management and compliance/payrolling services, benefited from an increase in services to new and existing clients. The company's staff augmentation revenue, however, fell 24.6% in the first quarter.

Gross margin narrowed to 14.0% from 14.9%.

The company reported first-quarter net income of $576,000 compared with net income of $156,000 in the first quarter of 2009.
