Third-quarter revenue edged down 0.8% at Comforce Corp. (AMEX: CFS) to $149.4 million from $150.7 million in the same period last year.

Gross margin at the Woodbury NY-based staffing firm, however, improved to 15.8% from 15.4%.

Comforce said third-quarter revenue in its human capital management segment, which includes its PRO Unlimited managed services provider business, rose 4.0%.

Third-quarter net income fell 24.7% to $1.3 million from $1.8 million in the third quarter of 2007.
