College grads’ job plans point to healthy hiring market

October 01, 2015

More college graduates from the class of 2015 plan to enter the workforce immediately after college rather than go to grad school — an indication of a healthy hiring market for grads, the National Association of Colleges and Employers reported. In difficult times, more students tend to enter grad school instead of the workforce immediately after college.

NACE found 60.8% of the class of 2015 planned to enter the workforce immediately after college compared to a rate of 59.7% to 60% of grads between 2012 and 2014.

In addition, the percentage of the class of 2015 going to grad school immediately after college fell to 22.7% after flowing from 23.3% to 23.4% for the three previous graduating classes.

NACE’s data is based on a survey of 39,950 student at all degree levels through NACE college members from Feb. 11, 2015, to April 30, 2015.
