City forms own temp pools

March 09, 2009

The city of Garland TX formed its own temporary worker pools to save on money it pays to staffing agencies, The Dallas Morning News newspaper reported. The city has two temporary worker pools — one made up of retired city employees and the other of city residents, the paper said. Garland benefits manager Rick French told the paper the city expects to save 30% to 50% on what it usually spends on the couple of hundred temporary workers the city hires each year.
