Second-quarter revenue in the U.S. employment services industry fell 11.6% from the year-ago quarter to $41.21 billion, the U.S. Census Bureau reported today. Second-quarter employment services revenue fell 0.7% compared with the first quarter.

The employment services industry category includes employment placement agencies, temporary help services and employee leasing.

By contrast, Staffing Industry Analysts estimates staffing industry revenue will decline by about 25% in 2009. The Census estimate of 11.6% decline is also more moderate than declines reported by public staffing firms.
