The U.S. Census Bureau reported today that third-quarter revenue in the U.S. employment services industry rose 1.2 percent from the second quarter for a total of $57.79 billion. The amount is up 7.1 percent on a year-over-year basis.

The employment services category measured by the bureau includes employment placement agencies, executive search firms, temporary employment agencies and professional employer organizations.

Census estimates of staffing industry revenue differ from other estimates. Staffing Industry Analysts, in its most recent estimate released earlier this year, projected staffing industry revenue would grow 10 percent in 2011.
