Caterpillar full-time jobs down in Q2, but flexible workforce up

July 28, 2014

Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE: CAT) reported last week a 5.8 percent decrease in its full-time workforce in the second quarter, but it also reported an increase in its flexible workforce of 2.3 percent.

The heavy equipment maker reported full-time employment of 115,292 in the second quarter, down 7,110 from the same quarter a year ago. The decrease was primarily the result of restructuring programs.
