Canadian staffing revenue rises 10%

Operating revenue in the Canadian employment services industry rose 9.5 percent between 2012 and 2011, Statistics Canada reported today. Employment services includes revenue from permanent placement, executive search, contract staffing, temporary staffing and co-employment staffing services.

Total employment services revenue was C$11.5 billion (US$10.38 billion) in 2012, according to Statistics Canada.

Operating revenue increased in every province with the biggest increase in Alberta, where employment services revenue rose 17.6 percent.

Ontario generated the lion’s share of operating revenue; 50 percent of employment services operating revenue came from that province. Alberta followed at 26.7 percent; next was Quebec at 13.4 percent.

Temporary staffing services represented 60.7 percent of employment services industry sales.
