Canadian staffing index rises 3%

April 22, 2010

The Canadian staffing index rose 3% in February compared with January, the Association of Canadian Search, Employment and Staffing Services reported today.

Although the index remains 29% below its July 2008 benchmark reading, it has increased 8% from its low in May 2009, according to ACSESS.

"Staffing services provide a valuable, dynamic, 'just-in-time' delivery of labor to businesses when they need it," said ACSESS National President Steve Jones in a press release. "As a result, these numbers predict that the more traditional lagging statistical measures such as the Canadian employment data will reflect continued moderate employment growth through April and May."
