Canadian staffing index flat in December

January 20, 2015

The Canadian staffing index, a measure of staffing activity in Canada, was unchanged year over year at a reading of 101 in December. However, the index fell 9% sequentially from the November index value of 111.

“Throughout 2014, we observed a trend of modest year-over-year declines in the index,” said David Francis, research associate at Staffing Industry Analysts. “We note that December 2014 had one more working day than December 2013, which suggests that total volume continues to be down modestly on a year-over-year basis.”

The Association of Canadian Search, Employment and Staffing Services and Staffing Industry Analysts produce the index. It is based upon reported billed hours for temporary staffing from a survey of leading staffing firms.
