The national job vacancy rate in Canada was 1.4 percent in January, down from 1.6 percent in the same month a year ago, Statistics Canada reported today. Canadian businesses had 200,000 job vacancies in January, a decrease of 22,000 from January 2012.

There were 6.5 unemployed people for every job vacancy in January, up from 6.1 in the same month a year ago.
