The national job vacancy rate in Canada was 1.8 percent in October, unchanged from the same month a year ago, Statistics Canada reported today. However, the number of job vacancies rose to 268,000 in October from 254,000 in October 2011.

There were 5.0 unemployed people for every job vacancy in October, down from 5.3 in the same month a year ago.
