Canadian Earnings Rise 0.7%

Average weekly earnings of non-farm payroll employees in Canada rose 0.7 percent to C$888.26 (US$889.82) in December, Statistics Canada reported today. The average number of hours worked weekly fell 1.0 percent in December from November.

Average weekly earnings rose 2.4 percent on a year-over-year basis. The year-over-year increase reflects a number of factors, such as wage growth and changes in the composition of employment by industry, by occupation and by level of job experience.
