Canada’s employment minister on temporary foreign worker rule — staffing quote of the week

"Our policy is that Canadians should come first for Canadian jobs," Employment Minister Pierre Poilievre told CTV News Calgary in defense of a policy in which work permits expired Wednesday for thousands of temporary foreign workers who have been in the country for more than four years. "The April 1st deadline has been known for a very long time, and the purpose of the program is for it to be temporary. That's why they're called temporary foreign workers."
