Canada adds 93,000 jobs

Canada added approximately 93,000 jobs in June, and total employment rose to almost 17.2 million, according to seasonally adjusted numbers released today by Statistics Canada. The nation's unemployment rate fell to 7.9% in June from 8.1% in May.

Full-time jobs added in June totaled 48,900 while the number of part-time jobs rose by 44,200.

Ontario added 60,300 jobs in June including 42,500 full-time jobs and 17,800 part-time jobs. Ontario's unemployment rate fell to 8.3% in June from 8.9% in May.

Manitoba posted the lowest jobless rate among provinces in June at 5.3%.
