Canada adds 79,100 jobs

Canada added 79,100 jobs in November from October, according to seasonally adjusted numbers released today by Statistics Canada. Canada's unemployment rate edged down to 8.5% in November from 8.6% in October.

Of the jobs gained in November, 38,600 were full-time jobs and 40,400 were part-time. Most of November's job gain, 73,000 jobs, was in the service sector with education adding 38,000 of those jobs.

Ontario added 27,100 jobs in November -- up 21,800 in full-time and 5,300 in part-time. Ontario's unemployment rate was unchanged in November at 9.3%.

Saskatchewan posted the lowest jobless rate among all provinces at 5.2%.
